Carolyn Miedke's Qualifications:

The certifications Carolyn Miedke holds will allow her to take

office without undergoing the mandatory training and testing

required for an unregistered person to legally serve as your

Waller County Tax Assessor-Collector.

She is also the only candidate who is properly certified to legally

calculate the required tax rate on her first day in office.

Who is Carolyn Miedke?

Carolyn was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Cypress where she attended Cy-Fair schools. While in

7th grade Carolyn met the man who would become her

husband of 42 years, Brad Miedke.

Carolyn started her career in the Cy-Fair schools working with special education students. She was asked to join the Cy-Fair ISD Tax Office where she remained for the next 15 years, expanding her knowledge in the tax administration field.

Carolyn has 37 total years of professional Tax administration experience, 15 with the Cy Fair ISD Tax Office and 22 years with the Harris County Tax Office. When she joined the Harris County Tax Office, she was only the second staff member who was certified by the State of Texas as a Registered Tax Assessor, Level III.

Carolyn didn’t just work at these tax offices; she became a leader. She may have started as a tax clerk but with continued education, uncompromising integrity, and hard work she earned numerous impressive certifications. This extraordinary commitment resulted in her being asked to manage an essential department within the Harris County Tax Office. Carolyn has always seen her work as a

commitment to the taxpayers she serves.

Registered Tax Assessor Collector (RTA), Class IV (highest level of certification)
Certified Tax Administrator (CTA)(must be RTA and Certified Appraiser to qualify)

Professional County Collector Certification (PCC)
County Tax Office Professional Certification (CTOP)
Supervisor – Post Judgement, Litigation, Tax Sales, and Jurisdictional Support

Senior Advisor – Tax Delinquencies and Litigation at Harris County Attorney’s Office
Advised Harris County Tax Office and Harris County Attorney’s Office regarding proposed legislative changes to the tax code.
